It is a small town straddling between the sea and the mountain.
Five minutes walk from the centre, there is an isolated building that is home and workshop to
La Pasta di Aldo.
Monte San Giusto reached its maximum splendour in the Renaissance period, when Niccolò Bonafede, born in Monte San Giusto in 1463, decided to establish a full-blown court in its hometown. In this time, the town underwent an intense town-planning renovation, above all with the construction of the marvellous Palazzo Bonafede (XVI century), the most important architectural work of Monte San Giusto.
The Church of Santa Maria Della Pietà in Telusiano (XIV century) preserves
"The Crucifixion" of Lorenzo Lotto,
commissioned by the bishop Bonafede and finished by the Venetian painter in 1531. After a superficial cleaning up in 1831, the painting was
restored in 1953 and in 1981. The original frame, based on a drawing of Lotto itself, was restored in 1996.
